Spring Is Coming!! 2/23/2007
Now that the worst of the winter is behind us and the spring is fast approaching, we now look forward to a very common pest called the "ant". There are many different kinds of ants and with each type of ant, a different treatment is required. The field ants, for example, will be coming out of hibernation as the weather starts to become warmer. There is already signs of movement. As these ants wake to warmer climates they could start entering your home in search of food. A preventative treatment is offered to keep these ants from entering your home. For more information, check the common pest section under ants or call our office for an appointment to have a preventative treatment performed.

COMMON NAME: Cluster Fly SCIENTIFIC NAME: Pollenia rudis (Fabricius) CLASS/ORDER/FAMILY: Insecta/Diptera/Calliphoridae METAMORPHOSIS: Complete
The common name reflects this species' habit of forming compact clusters of hibernating individuals, typically in wall voids or attics. It is widely distributed in Europe, Canada, and throughout the United States except for those states bordering the Gulf of Mexico. Specifically, cluster flies occur wherever their host earthworm, Allolbophora rosea (Savigny), occurs, which is usually in a well-drained silt-loam soil with grass cover.
